YATES RACING – FAST FACTS
In the Sprint Cup Series, Menard has recorded just one career start at Infineon Raceway.
Menard has an average starting position of 34.3 at NASCAR Sprint Cup road courses (Sonoma & Watkins Glen) and an average finishing position of 27.7.
Yates Racing has entered 33 races at Infineon Raceway and has finished in the top 10 in almost half of those races (48.6 %).
Johns Manville will be back on the hood of the No. 98 Johns Manville / Menards Ford Fusion for this weekend’s Toyota / Save Mart 350.
Menard on racing at Infineon Raceway:
"I’ve done a lot of road racing in the past and really enjoy it, which makes going to Sonoma a fun trip for us. I’ve had a lot more experience at Watkins Glen, but after running Sonoma last year, I feel a little more comfortable with the turns and braking points. While road course racing is a lot of fun, this race comes down to fuel mileage and pit strategy. If you have good calls from the pit box and a strong engine under the hood, and you can keep your car on the track, you can come out of there with a pretty solid finish. We need a good rebound and this weekend would be a good start for our No. 98 Johns Manville / Menards team.”
Crew Chief Larry Carter on racing at Infineon Raceway:
“We’ve gone to Road Atlanta a couple times as an organization to get our drivers more accustomed to the balance of these new cars on the road course as well as work on our fuel mileage. Doug (Yates) and all the guys at the engine shop know that we need a strong fuel mileage package to make it to the end of this one and be in contention. Hopefully, we can get some good practice in on Friday and Saturday and then make the best calls on top of the box to get us up the leaderboard.”
