“One Goal”… A Parade For Conquering Heroes…
Chicago Blackhawks Win The Stanley Cup!An estimated crowd of over 300,000 fans were expected to attend Friday’s Victory celebration parade and rally in down town Chicago for the triumphant Chicago Blackhawks winners of the Stanley Cup Trophy... But in actual, the crowd was near 2 million !!
Chicago defeated Flyers in Philadelphia4-3 in a heart-stopping over-time victory on Wednesday night.
Tied 3-3 in the sixed game of the Stanley Cup Finals leading the series 3-2, Chicago pounced on the Flyers on a slap-shot from the stick of star forward Patrick Kane. The 4-3 sudden victory stunned the Flyers and the crowd as Kane’s winning shot slid under goalie Michael Leighton’s pads lodging in the corner of the goal. After a quick video review, the goal was confirmed and the full celebration began both by the team and the fans back in Chicago.
“Kanner may have been the only one in the building who knew it went in but what a way to end it,” said Head Coach Jole Quinville.
“I got a shot on goal and it got stuck in the webbing of the net,” said Patrick Kane. “I can’t believe it we’ve just won the Stanley Cup. It’s something you dream about as a kid to score the winning goal in the Stanley Cup finals and it just unbelievable.”
“Once you win it you can’t wait to do it again,” said Quinville. This series was very competitive and my hat is off to Philadelphia.
You can’t describe the feeling it’s as good as it will ever get.”
Parade and Rally Honoring the Stanley Cup Champions
